So, I’ve mentioned a few times that I’m running the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler this weekend in DC.
What I didn’t mention is that I won tickets to see Calvin Harris perform the night before/morning of the race. Doors at 9p, but he probably won’t go on until midnight.
If you’re unfamiliar with Calvin Harris, I forgive you.
If you’re unfamiliar with Cherry Blossoms, then you live under a rock (they literally are the social event of the season… Yes, a bunch of trees).
Photo of Chris and I circa 2011. We went to a very cool fireworks show after staring at the trees for hours.
We also were apparently very excited to be surrounded by the pretty cherry blossoms.
Do I think this is my smartest decision? I mean, who doesn’t want to go to a concert in the middle of the night that won’t put you home until 2:30am and then wake up at 5am to go run ten miles? Clearly, I’ve made better choices but what can I do?
I can’t justify missing either event considering Calvin Harris is my most favorite DJ (sorry Avicii!) and the Cherry Blossom race is one of the most coveted and sought after races I know of. Both are big deals, so I’ve got to make it work.
Also, coming off the fact I just did the Princess Half Marathon on the same amount of sleep (3 hours!) and I walked around six parks in the six days leading up to it. I am confident I’ve got this.
One might be asking how I plan to do accomplish this amazing feat. Simple, really. I’m staying up all night tonight (slumber party with Jennifer!) so I can spend most of tomorrow sleeping so when I get home from the show I can take a nap instead of a typical nights sleep. If this works out how I’m envisioning, I should be a-okay. If not, I’ll tackle it like I did Disney. At least the weather should be more favorable in DC rather than how it was in Florida.
I’m pretty sure dancing will provide the perfect warm-up for my legs.

What’s the “worst” decision you’ve ever made going into a race? How did it turn out?
Do you think I’ll be able to pull this off?
